After 72 years, the Vancouver Island Senior Ladies Golf Association Committee found it necessary to discontinue the Button Matches due to the unavailability of reasonable tee times and dates to hold their matches. On August 22, 2022, thirty-eight pairs met at Arbutus Ridge Golf Club for the windup tournament, vying to put their names on the six trophies for the last time. The other two trophies for Button Matches, IDA SALE (A) and CAROL BRADSHAW (B) have not been played for since the Pandemic started. We hope however that perhaps one day someone will again recognize the importance of organizing a golf league for senior ladies, not just for the fun of the game, but for the health aspects and camaraderie it provides.
