At a recent dinner at Richmond Golf & Country Club, April 5th, the 2024 Distinguished Service Awards were presented to Michael Riste, BC Golf House, and Barbara Rainey, Zone 5.

MICHAEL RISTE is currently a social member at Marine Drive Golf Club. He serves as the BC Golf and PNGA Golf Historian. Michael has become the “go to guy” for anything to do with the history of golf in the Pacific Northwest.
Michael was a founding member of the BC Golf House Society and currently serves as Executive Director.
He has authored many books, researched countless club histories and is an active philanthropist. His mission is to record and preserve as much of golf’s history as possible before it is lost to future generations.
BARBARA RAINEY is currently a member of the Zone 5 Women’s Committee and has been for the last 24 years along with other committees such as Cedar Hill Ladies Executive, Player Dev. Trust Fund, Zone Council, BCGA Volunteer Awards and the V.I Senior Ladies. Over the years she has hosted or co-hosted the BC Amateur, Senior and Junior Championships along with the Canadian Men’s Senior at Gorge Vale, Junior Girls Americas Cup held at Royal Colwood and the 100th Anniversary Celebrations for the BCGA Women’s Amateur at Victoria Golf Club. While her golf clubs are now in the closet, she can still proudly proclaim 11 Hole-In-Ones and at one time a single digit golfer!
